Fenris and Daisy have passed into legend, their story recited from generation to generation: the pointing board of Thiskinn Cross; the elusive, yet terrifying Agile Benders; the exotic and enticing Lola Belsentinel and of course the love of Fenris for Daisy.
This long-awaited special edition brings together the collected poems of NJW with two poems inspired by, and about the poet. ‘The Honing of NJW’, which opens the collection, was written by Sarah, NJW’s middle daughter on the occasion of his 50th birthday in 1994. Like the poet himself, this is a poem which only improves with age. It is rumoured that Sarah is currently working on a set of new verses to be published in 2004 to celebrate NJW’s 60th birthday. The book concludes with ‘Mr Webster’s Favourite’, one of a series of poems inspired by NJW’s idiosyncratic and poetic vision and his exuberant relish for life.
The front cover shows ‘Fenris and Daisy’, a specially commissioned work by Emily Webster.
N. J. Webster is a scientist and poet who lives in the village of Worlaby, North Lincolnshire.
Although the Fenris and Daisy poems have been performed widely, winning prizes in the North Lincolnshire Music and Drama Festival and have been circulated in pamphlet form to family and friends, this is the first time they have been published as a collection.
